The Seoul-born artist Ahryun Lee (1989-) has built a career on pushing the boundaries of her chosen medium; Clay. Her artistic shift has started since 2013, when she studied for a master’s degree at Royal College of Art London, UK (2016). The cross-cultural transitions influence on her perspective in ceramics focusing on material attraction, Ahryun investigates fertile territory of ceramics for experimentation and potential creative speculations within Contemporary Art and Design.

 

Her work is often described as a delicious ceramic universe, which is vivid, flamboyant, playful. The joyful object captured the essence of her times conceptually, her nostalgia towards Childhood. Ahryun keeps developing a strong identity in her ceramics with unique artistic expressions, whilst embracing the different aspects in between tradition and contemporary.

 

Her widen perspective enables her to play in multiple fields in between Art and Design and Craft. Internationally acclaimed by Art and Design world, Ahryun has shown her work in prominent shows such as Art Basel Design Miami, Salone del Mobile and many other exhibitions in USA, Europe, Middle East and Korea. Also being caught by Fashion industry, she collaborated with Céline London and recently worked with Dolce & Gabbana under DG’s Generation Designers project during Milan Design Week 2023.
